On Sunday, March 1st, the MUSC chapter of the American Student Dental Association held this year’s annual Alumni Golf Tournament in conjunction with the Dental Student Alumni Council. The tournament was held at the Rivertowne Country Club, which is the only Arnold Palmer Signature golf course in the Charleston area. They were recently named one of the “Best You Can Play” by the South Carolina Golf Course Ratings Panel, awarded 4.5 stars by Golf Digest, and played host to the LPGA. The scenic course is situated on the marsh and features beautiful views and landscaping.

Despite less than ideal weather, the tournament still attracted a good turnout, including twenty alumni, five faculty, and twenty-three students and guests. Thanks to the Alumni Association providing sponsorship from Wells Fargo, Patterson, and Henry Schein, winning teams were able to take home some nice prizes. Third place winners Brett Henderson, Josh Palmateer, Lauren Ulbrich and Grant Bale each won an Under Armour golf shirt while Austin Abellena, Jordan Berry, John Moneyhun and Lancen Halbert each earned a dozen Titleist ProV1 golf balls for second place. MUSC CDM Class of 2013 graduates Dr. Brian Jacques, Dr. John Early, Dr. Jackson Mizzell, and Dr. Collin Bryant won the tournament and a Cleveland wedge for each player.

The MUSC Chapter of ASDA would like to extend a special thanks to MUSC Alumnus Dr. Jack Condrey for sponsoring two dental students to play in the tournament. A special thanks also goes to Dr. Ted McGill for donating several raffle prizes, and to the rest of our faculty and alumni that played in the tournament. Finally, the group had a good time singing happy birthday to Dr. Albenesius who was celebrating his birthday at the tournament. We’re looking forward to the Prophy Cup this fall and the Alumni Tournament next Spring and hope to see you there!
