ASDA’s third annual Friendsgiving potluck and flag football tournament was held this past Sunday, November 20th at James Island County Park. The day could not have been more beautiful for our event! About 170 students, residents, faculty, and friends joined us for a feast, with turkeys provided by ASDA and an array of delicious Thanksgiving side dishes and desserts brought by CDM students. Dinner left everyone full and happy, a perfect time to start watching some football. After our Friendsgiving dinner, the competition began between the D1’s and D4’s. The 1st years won in a close game, sending themselves into the championship. The D2’s took the next match up versus the D3’s, after an injury took star 3rd year player Chris Hillman out of the game. Then it all came down to the finals. In a back-and-forth competition that has never before been seen on the James Island County Park rec field, the D1’s, henceforth known as the #D-wons, arose victorious. Big thanks to our tournament referees- Dr. Mennito, Sam Mennito, Jon Fryml, John Storie, and Chris Hillman (pre-injury)- we couldn't have done it without y’all! All in all, Friendsgiving was a great opportunity for our students to come together, relax, play, and celebrate the upcoming holiday season. We can’t wait to do it again next year!
